Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about replacing your V5C log book.
Who can apply for a replacement log book?
The registered keeper shown on the V5C. The vehicle must be in your possession, and none of the details on the record should need to change. If you have just bought the vehicle, or details such as your name or address have changed, you will need a different application.
How much does it cost?
Our service costs £49.95. This includes the £25 DVLA fee, checking and completing your application, printing it and posting it to the DVLA. There is nothing else to pay. Urgent dispatch is an optional £10 extra.
What is urgent dispatch?
Urgent dispatch is an optional £10 add-on. If you order before 3pm UK time on a working day, we submit your application to the DVLA the same day. It does not change how quickly the DVLA processes your application or posts your new V5C.
How long until I receive my new V5C?
Once the DVLA has your application, a replacement V5C usually arrives by post within a few weeks. Processing times are set by the DVLA and can vary, so we cannot guarantee a delivery date.
What if I find my old log book?
If you find the original after applying, do not use it. The DVLA cancels the old document when it issues a replacement. Return or destroy it.
Are you part of the DVLA?
No. We are an independent service. We check your details, complete the application form, print it and post it to the DVLA with the fee. You can apply directly with the DVLA yourself at GOV.UK. Our fee covers the checking, printing, postage and handling.
Where is the V5C sent?
The DVLA posts the new V5C to the address it holds on record for the registered keeper.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes. You can cancel for a full refund before we submit your application to the DVLA. See our refund policy for details.
